complicated & blurry, but i make the best of it.
& i got these D&G glasses today
so i can see this world a little bit clearer =)
besides... in class you wont always get to sit upfront.

& yet i still cant see the board xD
i have very bad eye sight, eh` runs in the family.
So with these new glasses when im in my college classes sitting allllllllll the way in the back
i can see everything & everyone around me

Check it out

Hello, today i decided to go to manhattan to check F.I.T. and Parsons. I realized in N.Y. you never need to know where you're going as long as you know if you're lost. Here's my 5 minute review. I stayed no longer than 2 minutes in each of these schools so keep that in mind.

I loved FIT all i did was wonder around looking for the admissions office then leave when she said spring semester admissions don't open untill august. The building itself exclaims art and inspiration. Outside the nice people linger in their unique outfits, i also stood out today with a faded pink button-down shirt and a grey jacket over it.

after leaving FIT and realizing i no longer have service so i can't use google maps to find parsons, i got almost lost. I knew FIT was right down the block so i wasn't actually lost. I asked and asked for directions until i finally called my sister Dana and she gave me directions to Parsons(Thanks Dana.)(the punctuation goes inside the parenthese.) Now on my way to Parsons i realized the vast difference between 7th ave(Where FIT is) and 5th ave(Where Parsons is.) This difference alone gave FIT some points. When you hear about the city being crowded and bumping into people, 5th ave is the evidence. It is crowded and uncomfortable around the small Parsons buildings, but inside has a minimalistic theme. Not too much art, and not much to take in,just walls and glass.
One thing that stood out in Parsons is the "customer service" when i walked in the admissions desk was front and center, and the nice lady, which was leaving because her shift was over, told me there will be tours at Parsons at 2pm everyday, then pointed me to the brochures....free brochures. This became a fight between "Will i really read them" and "Who can turn down free things"... I took them.

Not much more to say, i liked FIT more because of atmosphere. The space was so freeing and art was all around. It seems like FIT's building was built with art in mind.

Parsons' building seemed like it was built with New York in mind. I wouldn't mind attending Parsons where it seems i could bump into Kriss Van Assche, or Thom Yorke easily.

Engine Rev Up !

(my school's library)

HEYSUGARPLUMZ. Sorry, I just had to...end of the year hyperness and such, I PROMISE I will not ever do that again. jk. Anyways, my graduation is on Thursday and as much as I say that I will not be all "OMG OMG NOOO" I know I will be once I get home after Project Graduation the next morning :) my bestbest friends are going to Disney the day after so I won't see them for a week BUT there's going to be a ton of partying and etcetera....BRING IT ON!

The end of the year has been fantastic - lots of things have been cleared up and I feel like I'm starting all over again it's awesome. Our Cultural Diversity Club picnic was last Friday, it felt good being ex-President, especially when the new board gave me my senior gift :) Feels good to be given that respect, especially after all the hard work that I put into my club for the past three years. Today, I gave my adviser HER gift and it was so sweet watching her reaction because she loved it. But then again she had to, it was my idea :D haha the past few days have been quite special and YAY no more finals for me.

As for the upcoming year...a lot of my friends have started registering for classes (Stern) and it's making me want to go and plan this out right now! I'm really excited and kind of nervous for orientation - only because there's so many class choices, I just hope I take the right ones haha. Can't wait to get started and get my life rockin and reelin and rollin - ITS THE TIME TO MAKE EVERYTHING HAPPEN. Hopefully the start to the next four years of my life is challenging and thought provoking, full of busy days and pleasant hang outs - that way, I'll be ready for the real DEEYUL ;D

Until later,
SIDZ.

Last Days of High School

Hows it hanging homies? It's Chris here, updating from his job at the UPS Store. This isn't in my job description, but it's rather boring here and I might as well do something productive right? They pretty much pay me just to stay around here.

So I had my senior prom the Thursday before last thursday, afterprom through the morning of the following day, and my last day of high school is this upcoming Monday. Ever since mid-December, when I got into NYU (I applied early decision), I've been wanting to get the hell out of high school asap. I had crazy senioritis but by some unholy miracle my average was actually better senior year. Now, as I'm signing yearbooks I actually feel pretty sad that high school is over. It's not so much the school as the people in it, but I guess they come with the territory. One chapter of my life is over and that is pretty sad but at the same time I am so ready for all college has to offer me. No more child stuff, it's the big leagues now. Beginning of my future, my career, my life.

My graduation is on June 25th at Nassau Coliseum and that's probably when it'll hit me. Will I cry? Probably not. Maybe. Who knows.

To ∞ and beyond

Oh hello there.

Well my name is technically Kunal, but you will most likely find a suitable nickname for me in keeping with almost everyone I know. As for college, I'm going to be an Applied Math major at Georgia Tech this fall, but I'm such a huge math nerd I'm planning to pick up Discrete Math too. As for a minor, religion, philosophy, psychology... really anything is up for grabs.

When I'm not nerding it up, I like to play a number of sports despite the obvious lack of skill. Right now I anticipate intramural flag football, soccer, dodgeball, and indoor soccer for next year. Maybe even some club tennis. Yeah, balance is key... but I prefer being overwhelmed to boredom. cant. stand. boredom.

cya around...

HEY! don't scroll down the page because you should read this first :)

Because, once you're on a blog you shouldn't ignore anything - it might just make you laugh/make your day better/give you a wtf?! moment/make you feel jittery/HEHEHE/I'll start now :)

Hey guys I'm Sidrah, trust me I'm not a creeper!
I'm going to be studying at NYU (YEAH) for the next four years (and I believe it will be very awesome) and my major is (drumroll)...Econ! I should have applied to Stern so that I could get a better focus on my major, but I didn't because I felt that I might not have gotten in ...turns out many with lower credentials than I got into Stern (gasp, climax of story). SO, this relates to my first college experience - I might try and transfer :). Either way though, I'm going to NYU for NYU, because it's my dream school and I wanted it that much :)

ALERT: I have an AIM (there's no meaning to life if you don't!), I am invincible (because I'm crazy), and I have a DREAM (to meet John Nash, he developed the Nash equilibrium and accomplished various economic feats). I want to spend the next four years at NYU falling headfirst into my material and getting to know international economies as well: we live in times in which physical distance is no longer an obstacle when it comes to communication. Taking that advantage, I want to explore economic history and business functions from around the world and give back to it everything it is bestowed me with.

Endnote: I am a business, man. The only difference is, there are no shutdowns.

College Couture?

Hello again, it is Dots,or OC.Thomas. As i drew closer to moving back to N.Y. for college i made a decision to dress more New York and busy. I love fashion for some odd reason, but more importantly i love looking good. Looking good and fashion are not the same thing. Looking good depends on your skin tone and shape, but fashion is simply staying in style. I have studied the photos of Mr.Scott Schuman of TheSartorialist.com to create a better image of who i want to be seen as. From awkward clothing you don't see everywhere but don't seem too weird.

To the things that are just too flamboyant for any earthling's liking.

To things i wish i would have thought up.
(The gentleman's outfit)
I study these photographs and carve out a fashionable, lovable style. I have yet to complete my transformation to be worthy of the sartorialist, but i am getting there. The Sartorialist, to me conveys the ideal college couture.

Business and auto-engineering, oh my!

Do you ever sit on top of your roof or some place that you know you can always be alone and just think about whatever is on your mind, hoping that someone or something will hear your thoughts and guide you where you need to be? I have. I am a thinker. I think way too much and over analyze things a lot, but that's just one of my many flaws but it doesn't always necessarily have to be a bad thing. It can sometimes be a good thing. I'm Annie Huynh and I am an incoming freshmen at Golden West Community College in Huntington Beach, California, also known as Orange County. I am the youngest out of three and I am the only girl of the family, excluding my momma. My talent is that I can be very creative when it comes to arts and craft. My passion in life is to be the best that I can be, mentally and physically despite of what everyone else says. I am planning to major in the Business field when I am ready to take on the challenge and my submajor will probably be Auto-Engineer, even though I have no knowledge on anything about cars really but it doesn't hurt to explore and learn something new. College is going to be a hard rocky road but I'll do my best. We'll just see how the college life turns out to be. I am Annie and this is my life as an incoming freshmen in college. Look for more updates on me and my college life on the official Cool Age College twitter!

Nerd Invasion

Did you know that oil is really difficult to remove off of clothes? I found that the hard way. I'm Michelle Huynh and I am an incoming freshman at the University of California, Irvine (or the University of Civics and Integras, if you haven't heard about the Asian population at UCI). I never really pictured myself becoming a doctor of some sort because of my passion of studio art and graphic designing; However, I am majoring in Biological Sciences (BS) and minoring in art and photography. I never really expected the college process to be so difficult, but we'll see how it turns out. Watch for my updates on the official Cool Age twitter!

College Scholarships and Thank You Letters

Hey guys, it's Chris here updating the old fashion way through his notebook because he doesn't have a BLACKBERRY like Dots. (What a baller)

So anyways, I just finished writing a thank-you letter for this national Asian scholarship that I won (APIASF). It's mandatory, but even if it wasn't, it's only right to write (Get it? Right-write haha I'm such a cornball) a letter of gratitude after some generous philanthropists give you 5K for college. Just thought I'd share it with you guys while I go start writing another thank-you letter for this other national Asian scholarship (USPAACC). I'm still waiting for a few more scholarships, but so far I'm raking in 10K in outside scholarships! Cha-ching! If any of you are applying to college next year or in college, definitely check out some scholarships, especially the minority heritage ones. It just takes a good essay and you can tweak it a little here and there for every scholarship that you apply to. Seriously, don't be lazy. It's FREE money.

Without further ado, here it is! Tell me what your thoughts.

June 2nd, 2009
Dear Sodexo Foundation,

Mere words do no justice to express the deep gratitude I feel towards the Sodexo Foundation and the Asian Pacific Islander Scholarship Fund for awarding me this generous scholarship. However, I will try. It is truly an incredible honor and feels all too surreal to be mine.

My name is Christopher Zou Bima and I am an aspiring filmmaker. I have always admired filmmaking. Growing up, my freedom was limited by my filial obligation to my father’s Chinese takeout. I have worked in place of a paid employee in order to save money since I was seven. Day in and day out, the stressful restaurant atmosphere wore me out, but I found release in my imagination. I would daydream of soulful characters who provoked me to tell their stories.

As I grew older, this evolved into my passion for filmmaking. Through motion pictures, filmmakers have the power to turn their imaginations into realities. That was what attracted me most; to one day meet the characters who helped me through my worst and made my best. Needless to say, my father disapproved. He regarded filmmaking as a pipe dream and not a real career like engineering or medicine. But if working a callous life in the restaurant has ever taught me anything, it was that you must go after the things you want in life.

Through hard work and the generosity of philanthropists, I will be attending New York University’s esteemed Tisch School of the Arts, which is nothing less of a dream come true for me. I will be working towards a BFA in Film and Television along with a double minor in Asian Pacific American Studies and the Business of Entertainment, Media, Technology. I am striving to become an influential Asian-American filmmaker in the future, breaking stereotypes and raising awareness for the Asian-American community that I am proud to be a part of.

Once again, my sincerest thanks for being chosen as an APIASF/Sodexo Scholar. It is a stepping-stone for what I trust will be greater things to come.

Your Scholar,
Christopher Zou Bima
